Test for Durability to Certify for Kite Marks

Requirement to test the durability of furniture. 'Fira' The Furniture Research Authority required a system that would indicate the level of stress on furniture in regular use. They are the body that issues the Kite Mark for safety and quality in the furniture industry.

Using our SY024 ramp generator a 4-20mA ramping signal is created to apply a linear signal  to hydraulic rams at a user programmable rate. Force is applied to the furniture using the SY024RG in a  variety of test rigs that are used to apply forces, in every direction that we humans might apply force, to our tables, chairs, settees, beds etc. as we use and abuse them.  I particularly like the one the Fira engineers call 'Squirming Irma'  which simulates a well proportioned  wriggling bottom.
