BP Mitchell have many strings to their bow. They own quarriies, run a haulage company, and ready mix concrete batching sites in the UK and very recently installed a plant on the west coast of Ireland.
Having tried out Synectic Design's controllers at the UK operational plants over the previous 2 years the engineering manager Alan Moran put forward Synectic Design solutions when Patrick Mitchell decided to built a new plant near the Mitchell brothers home town in County Mayo. Mitchell's own highly skilled team of engineers chose to construct their own batching plant in their quarry near Hatfield in Hertfordshire. Synectic Design supplied an industrial PC and weighing and flow batching instruments that give the system the flexibility to control recipes from the PC while measureing with Synectic design's accurate instruments for flow and weight. Having commissioned the compact plant Synectic's engineers were amazed when Mitchells wasted no time in despatching the plant on one of their own lo-loaders and shipping it to Ireland where two days later it batched the concrete for its own foundations.
