Weighing Controller Produces Concrete Results

Synectic Design Solutions were asked in mid-2005 to design a concrete weighing and batching control unit for a Mixamate concrete mixing truck. The unit with increased accuracy and speed was required to replace the previous unit.

The unit Synectic Design Solutions designed for this application was based on the innovative SY017 Multi-Recipe Batch Controller combined with a printer. The unit needed special functions specifically on-the-spot concrete mixing application. The design is a typical customized product from Synectic Design Solutions, which can be used for any other truck on-board weighing requirements.

The SD007 unit controls the dispensing and mixing of ingredients (water, cement, sand, aggregate and up to four other components of the concrete mix) by weight to the required specification.

100 different recipes can be stored and uploaded to the unit using a PC or laptop via USB connection. At the end of each batch a ticket is printed as well as a stored in internal memory of system to provide full traceability.

Further features that are included in the unit include monitors with alarm conditions for hydraulic oil pressure, water level and the mixer lid (as a safety feature).

The industrial design is rugged enough to cope with the difficulty of most situations, including a wide range of outdoor uses; it also has a vandal proof keypad. The unit only requires a 24 Volt power supply, meaning it can work off a truck battery.  This special product has improved the speed and accuracy of the concrete mixing and batching of the process via;

• faster printing,
• simplified input control (through the keypad),
• incorruptible processing – with the dedicated microprocessor, unlike PLC’s
• Unit offers full traceability to meet the requirements of QSRMC.
